When did you first fall in LOVE with yoga?
Mom says I used to sleep in child's pose as a baby, so I would have to say probably since I was born. Maybe even before. After that it would have to have been when I was on the central coast just starting to work as an attorney and yoga brought balance and peace to my otherwise busy lifestyle.
What can a student expect in one of your classes?
I try to bring a grounding, centered energy and pace to the class. I try to find that place where you're not moving so fast that you can't move with your breath but not so slow that your mind wanders drastically and you lose that mind-body connection. I also hope to bring compassion while asking you to move beyond what you only think you can do.
What is your favorite yoga pose?
Ustrasana (camel) pose. Because it opens the heart. And anypose that opens the chest to help expand the lungs and heart is beautiful to me.When I'm in ustrasana I canpicture that my true self is lifting right out of my heart center and being offered up to the world. It reminds me that there is more to me than my day-to-day routine, that I have something worth offering, and that I can direct that offering to anything to which I am devoted and see it prosper.
What is your least favorite?
This varies so much from practice to practice it'shard to pick. Some days its standing balancing poses, other days its a simple pose lie prasarite padottanasana (wide-legged forward bend), because I feel that one so intensely in the outside of my calves. Basically I can tell when I have overindulged in anything, have been overtaxing my body, or have been avoiding emotional issuesby what poses I am reluctant to do in a practice.  Being aware of the poses I want to avoid helps me work on areas that need the work.
What is your favorite thing to do off the mat?
Honestly - learning more about how to practice the yoga lifesyle off the mat. How to make my day-to-day life easier and more compatible with my true self. I also love eating good, wholesome food, and just being quiet, prefereably somewhere under a tree or by water.

Cam Mahon

Being a practitioner of Power Vinyasa yoga and graduate of a 200 hour Yoga Alliance approved teacher training program in that style, Cam brings passion and commitment to her practice, teaches with an open heart and works to provide a safe space to explore and deepen a students' practice.

When did you first fall in LOVE with yoga?

My first power vinyasa class here in Sacramento and two words come to mind: Breath and Compassion. I was so AWARE of my breath, feeling like I was truly breathing for the first time in my life. Definitely a heightened sense of awareness of not only my breath but my body as well. The teacher took me to my edge, really challenged me physically but did it with such love and compassion. I remember thinking after class, I have found "IT" and was never the same after that.

What can a student expect in one of your classes?
First and foremost, a safe space to explore and deepen your practice. All I ask is that you show up and be yourself! Commitment to breath and taking students to their edge.
What is your favorite yoga pose?
Balasana: Child's Pose...for me, it's the most powerful pose because it asks you to drop the ego, fall to your knees and surrender. Preferably Child's Pose with palms facing the sky--ultimate act of surrender and offering up yourself, your practice, everything.
What is your least favorite?
Hanumanasana: Monkey Pose (the splits): This pose is most humbling because it confronts me with a reality that is not always so pleasant. I come up with so many excuses as to why I can't do this pose but ultimately, it is I who stand in the way of realizing it. Torn between do I continue to practice it knowing that I might never realize it or just come to terms with how this pose will always be out of my reach. Ah yes, the monkey mind standing in the way of this monkey pose...how appropriate! The answer to my dilemma is simple: just do it!
What is your favorite thing to do off the mat?
Collecting stamps in my passport, fiddling in the kitchen and trying out new recipes (when my life and time allows), enjoying a nice glass of champagne or red wine, book nerd, museums, watching football americano!

Shannon Shellenberg

Shannon began her Yogic journey 11 years ago when, at her very first class, an amazing teacher looked into her soul and corrected her posture - - pushing her chin back and saying, “You think too much, lead with your heart, not with your head”.  Since that first clas, Shannon has studied Iyengar and Bikram yoga in addition to Power Vinyasa.  Shannon completed her 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified teacher training under her teachers Anne Marie Kramer and Bill Prysock.

When did you first fall in LOVE with yoga?

Well, it was LOVE at first sight, but then of course like any relationship, the love has waxed and waned over the years! :) I first knew though that this would be a life long relationship when I realized how much more yoga was than just a physical practice - - that was already years into my exploration of it. The love deepened and matured as I realized that the true gifts of yoga are the tools for happiness and peace of mind it can bring.

What can a student expect in one of your classes?

Unconditional love for whatever you bring to the mat that day! A solid and challenging physical practice delivered with compassion and a few giggles hopefully! No fun, no yoga.

What is your favorite yoga pose?

Trikonasana (triangle pose). I feel like it uses every muscle in my body and opens upmy heart at the same time - - I feel expansive in it.

What is your least favorite?

Hanumanasana (splits). It challenges my tight hamstrings (and my ego) to no end!! So I need to do it more often!! :)

What is your favorite thing to do off the mat?

SCUBA diving!! It's like yoga underwater - - the breath, the focus on thepresent moment, the fluidity and beauty of it!

Nick Clark

When did you first fall in LOVE with yoga?

Oh yes, I fell in love with yoga the minute I broke my first sweat. It was during a time when I had a lot of injuries from athletics and needed something to get me back into shape.

What can a student expect in one of your classes?

A medium-well paced Power Vinyasa flow class with fun and inspirational music and insight. The combination of breath, movement and music will heighten your senses and take you where you have never gone before.

What is your favorite yoga pose?

I don't like to play favorites. Each and every practice there is a pose that is easier or harder depending on what I am going through. If I had to choose I would say headstand, because it allows me to see the world from a different perspective!

What is your least favorite? Wheel was probably the toughest pose for me in the beginning leaving me frustrated at times, but over time I have learned to love it. Just as in life, what we see as a difficulty or problem position, may in fact be exactly where we need work!

What is your favorite thing to do off the mat?

Off of the mat, I love to inspire people find their greatest potential. The easiest way for me to do this is to offer a hand or a smile. I am also an avid skydiver and bicycle rider!
